Solidarity Circles for Activists
We are living in, as the euphemism goes, unprecedented times.
It takes enormous energy today to not only maintain our own sanity and equilibrium as the world roils beneath our feet, but even more to also actively contribute to serving and protecting the people around us. Every day, clergy, historians, attorneys, academics, journalists, scientists, public servants, and activists in all sectors are doing the crucial and fatiguing work of defending human and civil rights for all.
Where can these healers go when they need healing?
Solidarity Circles are designed to offer an intentionally calm haven where justice workers can rest together and have supportive space to lament, rejoice, and be refreshed in beloved community before returning to their liberatory work.
If you are working non-violently to bend the arc of history toward justice, you are welcome in a Solidarity Circle. Gatherings are currently held on third Thursdays at 1pm; sign up for email to get the link to join.
Book Club
Want to read and discuss spiritual books, both ancient and modern? Book discussions take place at 1pm Central on 4th Thursdays (no meetings in November or December). The planned reading list includes:
- Discernment (Henri Nouwen)
- Falling Upward (Richard Rohr)
- Let Your Life Speak (Parker Palmer)
- Emotionally Healthy Spirituality (Peter Scazzero)
- The Deeply Formed Life (Rich Villodas)
- The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry (John Mark Comer)
- Revelations of Divine Love (Julian of Norwich)
- The Practice of the Presence of God (Brother Lawrence)
- Anatomy of the Soul (Curt Thompson)
- Life of Prayer (Teresa of Avila)
- The Story of a Soul (Therese of Lisieux)
Sign up for email updates to receive the upcoming titles and meeting link. Have a book you'd like to discuss?
